  1. "The American Staffordshire Terrier is an intelligent, happy, outgoing, stable, and confident dog. Gentle and loving towards people. Good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet. It is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, this dog wants nothing more then to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of life. Over the past 50 years, careful breeding has produced this friendly, trustworthy, dog who is an especially good dog for children."

As you may have picked up on in my blog for Pup of the Month, I have an affection for pit bulls. ;-) I initially got a pit bull because I lived in a shady neighborhood and wanted the bad rap alone to scare people off (never believing they were actually bad). After having a pit bull, I now think their bad rap is criminal and am working to change it. I think pits very much fit the description above; they are loyal, loving, smart, affectionate...and goofy. I will always have a pit bull.

  2. "A "gentle giant," the Great Dane is nothing short of majestic. Sometimes referred to as the "king of dogs," this extremely large dog breed is known for being strong yet elegant, with a friendly, energetic personality. Striking in the show ring, this breed is also popular as a family pet. Coat colors can be brindle, fawn, blue, black, harlequin and mantle. "

Kona definitely fits the AKC description of a great dane. He is gorgeous and has a super shiny coat. He gets compliments all the time about how handsome he is, how shiny his coat is, how tall he is, how regal he looks...as well as the typical, "hey, do where's your saddle?" comments. :)

He's very friendly and definitely loyal. He's also a lap dog and is for sure a people dog. He has alot of energy when we take him out to play, but he's actually quite a good couch potato and will sleep away the day if we let him.

    We love our dane!
